The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a government scheme that provides financial support to apprentices and basic training providers. The scheme aims to increase the number of skilled workers in the industry.
Benefits
- The government shares 25% of the prescribed stipend with employers, up to a maximum of Rs 1,500 per month per apprentice
- The government shares the cost of basic training with Basic Training Providers (BTPs)
- The scheme provides training in Designated Trades (DT) and Optional Trades (OT)
Eligibility
- Employers must have an EPFO/ESIC/UDYOGAADHAR
- Employers must have a TIN Number
- Employers must be registered on the online portal
- Employers must have an Aadhar-linked bank account
Training
- Basic training is embedded in the course duration of apprenticeship for Optional Trades (OT)
- Basic training for Designated Trades (DT) is as per the approved course
- Basic training focuses on orientation and induction into the establishment
Target
- The scheme targets to enroll 46 lakh apprentices over a period of four years from FY 2022-23 to FY 2025-26
